Quality Australian Chillers for Data Centres

     Data Centre equipment cooling

Data Centre equipment cooling and rack cooling requirements are unique

Stability of temperature is crucial.

Chilled water is pumped through close control air handling units for server room cooling and

plumbed under floor for direct rack cooling. Chillers then provide the water cooling using a

refrigeration system that collects heat from the water and discharges it as waste hot air.

Some rack cooling systems include a chiller water connection for each cabinet or enclosure

while others have a hot row/cold row configuration, or a single cooling rack in line for a number

of server racks.

Air-cooled chillers from Summit Matsu Chilling Systems are supplied in a modular fashion

for a n+1 solution which allows for redundancy and can be integrated with a chiller tank and

pump unit as a package.

Because data centre infrastructure must often be retro-fitted to existing buildings the modular

chiller configuration allows installation in limited space. Chiller air discharge can be either

horizontal or vertical.

Multiple refrigeration systems can be built into each chiller for added

redundancy and can be staged on a lead-lag arrangement to spread

equal run hours across all compressors and chillers.

Screw compressors are used for high efficiency and PLCs

(Programmable Logic Controllers) can link back to virtually

any control system in the data centre.

The regular chiller controls can protect the machine from

multiple fault events including loss of water flow, air flow,

refrigeration high or low pressure, loss of phase or incorrect

phase rotation as well as standard motor protection for

temperature and current.

Because rack cooling and equipment cooling can operate with

higher water temperatures than air conditioning systems,

Summit Matsu Chilling Systems chillers are optimised for

performance at higher temperatures which increases the

energy efficiency of the water cooling system.

Naturally all Summit Matsu Chilling Systems chillers are built

for hot Australian conditions.

Summit Matsu Chilling Systems also offer a "whole of life" chiller

plant solution including extended warranty and service.

Please contact Summit Matsu Chilling Systems on Tel: +61 2 9698 4666, Fax: +61 2 9698 4688, or email via the contact us form to discuss your specific data centre rack cooling or equipment cooling chiller needs.

Please provide information on water temperatures for supply and return and also the flow rate - this should allow the engineers at Summit Matsu Chilling Systems to quickly give an indication of the appropriate chiller model.
